Mikey Anderson

Anderson missed well over a month last season with an upper-body issue but was otherwise a regular in Los Angeles' lineup. He ended up playing in 57 games, picking up a pair of goals and eight points, numbers right in line with what we saw from him the year prior. Anderson has been averaging more than 20 minutes of ice time per game for the Kings, but his hit and block numbers are middling for a rearguard, leaving him with limited fantasy value. You should probably look elsewhere on draft day.

Anderson is a physical defender whose fantasy value will be limited to blocks and hits, even if he's paired with Drew Doughty. He's just 21 and a big part of the Kings' future on the blue line, but he'll never be a power-play guy. This season, Anderson could bring fantasy managers a double century in hits and blocks, and when combined with 20-23 points, he may be the perfect fill-in for the bottom of some virtual rosters.

Anderson might be the least flashy top prospect in the game right now. While he doesn't have imposing size or top-shelf skating speed, the 21-year-old has off-the-charts hockey IQ, and he already understands how to use angles and apply pressure to keep his own end of the ice clean. His outlet passes are similarly effective without being highlight-reel worthy, but his instincts are beginning to show up in the attacking zone as well, and he has a knack for creeping off the blue line into open space for a shot opportunity. Anderson's rock-solid skill set helped lead Minnesota-Duluth to back-to-back NCAA titles, and after getting his feet wet in the NHL last season, he figures to handle a regular shift with the Kings in 2020-21 on the second or third pairing.
