Mark Jankowski

Jankowski made a name for himself with eight shorthanded points in 2018-19, enough to rank him second in the league in that category. Overall, he posted 32 points (14 goals, 18 helpers) in 79 games while averaging 12:42 of ice time per game as the Flames' third-line center. It's taken the 21st overall pick from the 2012 draft some time to develop into a regular NHL player, but Jankowski appears to be fully ready for that role now. If the 24-year-old can put more pucks on net this year, a 20-goal, 40-point season is attainable, while a 30-point effort seems to be his floor.

Jankowski -- the 21st overall selection from the 2012 draft -- enjoyed a solid rookie campaign for the Flames, tallying 17 goals and 25 points in total while playing in 72 NHL games. Calgary's front office was clearly pleased with that they saw, signing Jankowski to a two-year deal this offseason. He has shown strong offensive upside at every level, as the power forward dropped 40 points in his senior year with Providence before a 27-29-56 performance with AHL Stockton during the 2016-17 season. The 6-foot-4 pivot has a shot at reaching the 30-point mark in 2018-19, and he could even find himself with power-play opportunities to complete the intriguing fantasy profile.

Jankowski enters the second year of a two-year ELC with the Flames organization. Last season, the 6-foot-4, 202-pound center amassed 27 goals and 29 assists over 64 games with AHL Stockton. Jankowski has plenty of untapped upside as a mobile puck mover who originally heard his name called with the 21st overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, but since he's only drawn into a single NHL contest to date, you won't see fantasy owners clamoring over him just yet -- that's the ideal time to buy.

After helping Providence to the NCAA title last spring, Jankowski opted to return to college for his senior season. He wouldn't have received much of a shot with a Flames squad awash in a sea of forwards, so he will instead attempt to lead his college team to a repeat. He had 27 points in 37 regular season games for Providence in 2014-15, as well as four points in four NCAA tournament games.

A teammate of the Flames’ top goalie prospect, Jon Gillies, at Providence College, Jankowski showed some improvement as a sophomore for the Friars, racking up 13 goals and 12 assists over 39 games. Still, Jankowski, the Flames’ first-round selection in 2012, is still believed to be far away from contributing to the parent club. The organization remains high on him for his skills as a skater and his soft hands, but his development isn’t going to as quick as initially hoped.

The Flames have high hopes for their recent first-round pick, but will have to wait awhile for Jankowski, as he will start at Providence College in the fall. He's small and a bit of a project, but his offensive skills rate highly.
