ANALYSIS
Coach Dan Bylsma wishes his owner/Hall of Famer would suit up as a power-play specialist one more time but realizes that's not going to happen. "We joked about that Wednesday, that possibly it might be time for him to get on a line with [Sidney] Crosby and [Evgeni] Malkin on the power play," Bylsma said. "I think he'd be up for the power play." Lemieux retired for the final time four years ago this week.

2005 Fantasy Outlook
Mario Lemieux (C, W): Lemieux, who turns 40 on Opening Night, has so much hope for his team that he decided not to sell his majority stake in the Penguins. The power play remains Lemieux's forte. With the new talent surrounding him, he should have no problem averaging an assist a game. He's had a history of staying on the ice way too long the last few years, and now he might not feel like he has to do that -- keeping him fresher throughout the year. While he's no longer the sniper he once was, he should score enough to average between 1.25 and 1.50 points per contest. Fantasy owners need to check their excitement just enough to remember that Lemieux played in just 10 games in 2003-04 due to a hip injury.
