Luke Evangelista

Luke Evangelista

22-Year-Old Right WingRW
Nashville Predators
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Evangelista did well enough in his first full NHL campaign to finish ninth in Calder Trophy voting, but there are reasons to be pessimistic about his chances of taking a step forward this season. Evangelista had 16 goals and 39 points in 80 regular-season outings in 2023-24, which is a solid result when you consider that he averaged just 13:57 of ice time. That translates to 2.1 points per 60 minutes, which isn't that far behind Claude Giroux, who recorded 64 points in 82 outings while averaging 20:06. The problem is Evangelista will have a tough time earning a bigger role in Nashville after they signed Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault over the summer. The 22-year-old Evangelista does have offensive upside, but it would be best to pencil him in for 40 points or so in 2024-25. Read Past Outlooks

Evangelista produced an assist in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Stars.
ANALYSIS
Evangelista set up Thomas Novak's third-period tally. The 22-year-old Evangelista is on the third line to start 2024-25, and barring injuries, he looks to have little chance of attaining steady top-six minutes. The 22-year-old forward produced 39 points, 172 shots on net and 10 power-play points over 80 regular-season games in his first full campaign in 2023-24. He's too skilled to be a traditional third-liner, but with ice time hard to find, there may not be much growth in his offense this season.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Evangelista made his NHL debut at the end of February and proceeded to post seven goals and eight assists over 24 contests to close out 2022-23. That's enough of a statement to suggest he's ready to be a full-time NHLer in 2023-24. Top-six minutes and a large power-play role are likely to land in his lap this year. He may be among the most talented of the Predators' prospects, and at 21 years old, he still has plenty of room to grow. He'll likely end up in the neighborhood of 15 goals, 40 points and 10 power-play points in 2023-24. That's more than enough production to be worth a late-round flier in redraft formats.

Projected to play Wednesday
RWNashville Predators
November 22, 2023
Evangelista, who was a healthy scratch Monday, is projected to draw into the lineup Wednesday versus Calgary, per Emma Lingan of the Predators' official site.
ANALYSIS
Evangelista has a goal and nine points in 16 contests this season. The 21-year-old hasn't quite lived up to expectations in terms of offensive production, especially after scoring seven goals and 15 points in 24 outings last year, but he still has a lot of promise. Evangelista might play alongside Kiefer Sherwood and Juuso Pärssinen in his return.
