Past Fantasy Outlooks
Carlsson could have a chance to break camp with the Panthers in 2023-24, but he saw just two NHL games last season. He's recorded just 60 appearances in his career with 11 points to his name, and it's very likely the Swede is more of an AHL-level blueliner. Fantasy managers can safely leave Carlsson on the draft board this fall.
Carlson was an up-and-down guy last season, playing 40 games for the Panthers and eight games for their AHL affiliate in Charlotte. He managed 15 points in 48 games combined between the two level, and he's totaled just three goals and 11 points in 58 NHL contests over the last three campaigns. The 25-year-old Swede will battle veteran Marc Staal and youngster Calle Sjalin for regular playing time for Florida in 2022-23. Carlsson won't be a worthy fantasy pick in most formats even if he emerges from that competition as the victor. Look elsewhere on draft day.
Carlsson got his first taste of NHL action with six games in 2019-20. He posted one assist and 11 hits during that audition. The 23-year-old added 26 points in 48 contests with AHL Rockford, but he's probably ready to make the jump to the NHL with the Blackhawks lacking prospects at a similar stage of development. Carlsson will probably be a part-time player at best with the parent club, and he's not likely to generate much offense when he does draw into the lineup, so fantasy managers can look elsewhere. A fourth-round draft pick from 2016, Carlsson is likely at least a year or two away from potential fantasy relevance.
