Neck
April 8, 2015
Erskine (neck) isn't expected to play in the Caps' final two games of the season, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Erskine skated on his own after Wednesday's morning session, but doesn't appear to be in line to take contact with the team before the regular season draws to a close. He didn't play a single game this season after undergoing neck surgery in October, but should be fully healthy for the start of the 2015-16 campaign. Erskine will become a free agent this summer.

A hulking presence on the Caps blue line for many seasons, Erskine’s future is certainly in doubt given the free agency spree the Caps went on during free agency. A solid locker room presence, Erskine’s lack of foot speed was a glaring weakness for the Capitals last season, when he was in the lineup at all. He’ll likely get some action due to injuries at some point, but it looks like his days as an NHL regular are behind him.
Erskine will play in a lot of games and grind, but after six points in 30 games last season expectations should be tempered in most formats.
Another of the Caps' stay-at-home grinders, Erskine is expected to prevent goals more than create him. Injuries forced the Kingston, Ontario native to play just 28 games last season.
Erskine is known mostly for his time in the penalty box, but did play in the most amount of games in his 10 year career. He did post a career high in points, as well as goals and assists. He was a mainstay on the backend last season and again will play a vital role in how the Caps defense performs this coming season. With 94 penalty minutes to go along with his other stats and Erskine has no value in fantasy formats.
Erskine is veteran defenseman who has paid his dues and makes his living as a rugged defensive blueliner. He will likely be on the Opening Day Roster once again this year. He is not a quality fantasy guy, but for the team is a vital part of the back end.
Erskine, an antagonist is known mostly for his time in the penalty box. After only playing in 52 games last season, he scored only four points and had 63 penalty minutes. He served mainly as the sixth or seventh defenseman last season, and should be in the same situation this year. No value here.
Erskine, an antagonist is known mostly for his time in the penalty box. After only playing in 51 games, he scored nine points and had 96 penalty minutes. He served mainly as the sixth or seventh defenseman last season, and should be in the same situation this year. No value here.
When in the lineup, Erskine plays tough defense and can be a solid source of penalty minutes, but won't score many points for you.
Erskine will bring toughness and penalty minutes to the Capitals defense, but little else. He has five points in his career, so scoring is not his forte. Expect around 150 penalty minutes from him in 2006-07.
No fantasy impact, unless your league counts PIMs. He'll drop the gloves, but Dallas' depth on the blue line will limit his playing time.
