John Beecher

John Beecher

23-Year-Old CenterC
Boston Bruins
2024 Fantasy Outlook
A first-round pick (No. 30 overall) of the Bruins in 2019, Beecher made his NHL debut last season and was a regular for the club from mid-March on. He appeared in 52 regular-season games, posting seven goals and 10 points. Beecher also suited up for 11 of 12 postseason contests for Boston. Blessed with blazing speed, Beecher has transitioned nicely to a bottom-six role. He's slated to serve as the fourth-line center for the B's in 2024-25, although he doesn't project to have any fantasy value in the process. Read Past Outlooks

October 16, 2024
Beecher scored an empty-net goal and went plus-3 in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Avalanche.
ANALYSIS
Beecher cut off the Avalanche's comeback attempt with the empty-netter. The 23-year-old has scored in back-to-back games and is up to five points through five contests in a fourth-line role. He's also gone plus-9 with six shots on net, 11 hits and eight blocked shots. The Bruins haven't gotten much from their middle six, allowing Beecher and linemates Cole Koepke and Mark Kastelic to pick up the slack.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Since being taken 30th overall by the Bruins at the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Beecher's star has been on the rise. His first-round selection, originally viewed by some as a bit of a reach, now looks like a strong one following the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder's outstanding performance in this year's World Junior Summer Showcase. While the 18-year-old center worked as a bottom-six forward with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program Under-18 team last season, he was given the opportunity to play in a top-six role during the WJSS, and responded by scoring four goals in five games. Beecher, who is bound for the University of Michigan this fall, is years (not months) away from an NHL job, but if he is able to fully harness his excellent size/speed combo and continue to develop his scoring touch, he could end up centering Boston's first or second line down the road.

Begins pro career
CBoston Bruins
April 13, 2022
The Bruins have signed Beecher to an amateur tryout agreement for the remainder of the 2021-22 AHL season.
ANALYSIS
Per GM Don Sweeney, the 2019 first-rounder -- who spent the past three seasons at the University of Michigan -- is now slated to begin his pro career with AHL Providence. Sweeney added that the team is also working toward finalizing Beecher's entry-level contract while noting that the Bruins and the 21-year-old "are leaving all options open with regards to his availability for the remainder of this season and playoffs." This past season, the 6-foot-3, 209-pounder recorded six goals and 15 points in 34 games for the Wolverines. With a good blend of size and speed, Beecher has a chance to develop into a solid two-way center for Boston down the road.
