GPhiladelphia Flyers  Free Agent
February 9, 2004
Hackett, who was battling vertigo while playing for the Flyers top affiliate, officially announced his retirement Monday.
ANALYSIS
The Philly goaltending situation has been turned on its head in a matter of weeks, as Hackett is now out of hockey, Robert Esche is on the shelf and now Sean Burke is now in town. Hackett owners who had been waiting (and hopefully you haven't been counting on him too much) will need to see if they can re-position themselves if they want to keep backing the Philly goaltending situation. Tough to see Hackett have to leave the game like this, as he's muddled through a number of goaltending situations in his career and provided fantasy help to some along the way.
