Pandolfo spent last season as a spare forward for the Bruins, going scoreless in 18 games. At 38, he may have played his last NHL game.
Pandolfo's real value to the Islanders was as a veteran presence. He scored a single goal to go along with two assists and a minus-14 rating last year. He could have difficulty making the roster this fall, but if he does, it will be in the defensive forward role by which he's made his living.
Pandolfo saw his role as the team's primary checking forward slashed last season and he struggled to find a regular role. He'll be utilized by new coach Jacques Lemaire in a similar checking role but won't be a factor in the fantasy hockey world.
Easily one of the team's most valuable players, Pandolfo is one of the league's foremost defensive forwards. His role is purely defensive and will approach 30 points like he does most seasons.
Along with John Madden, Pandolfo's role is to stop the opposition's top players and he isn't known as an offensive player. He's a very valuable player to the Devils but doesn't offer much to the fantasy hockey world.
Purely a checker for New Jersey with a ceiling of no more than 25-28 points.
