Elmer Soderblom

Elmer Soderblom

23-Year-Old Left WingLW
Detroit Red Wings
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Soderblom got his first taste of the NHL in 2022-23 when he played 21 games with the Red Wings, scoring five times while adding three assists. Detroit kept him in the minors for the entire 2023-24 campaign, as he had 13 goals and 29 points in 61 games with Grand Rapids. The 23-year-old has a chance to break training camp with the big club as he is a towering winger - six-foot, six inches and 220 pounds. Should Soderblom make the Red Wings out of camp, it will be as a bottom-six forward at best and thus, he is unlikely to garner any consideration in fantasy drafts. Read Past Outlooks

Reflects on ways he can improve
LWDetroit Red Wings  Minors
October 1, 2023
Soderblom is looking to improve the way he uses his size and shot, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Listed at 6-foot-8 and 246 pounds, Soderblom is a towering presence on the ice, but the Swedish winger is preparing for his second season in North America and knows he still has his work cut out for him. "Be better at protecting pucks, take it to the net, get some more shots," Soderblom said, adding, "I think I can use my body more, add another dimension to my game. Get some more hits every single game." Soderblom shocked the masses by earning a spot on the Red Wings' Opening Night roster last year, recording five goals and three assists before sustaining a head injury that forced him to call it a season in March.
