Kahun inked a three-year contract with SC Bern on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Kahun will return to Europe after a three-year stint in the NHL that saw him registered 34 goals and 49 assists in 186 games for Chicago, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Edmonton. Considering the Czech winger will be 29 when his deal with Bern ends, this could be the last we've seen of Kahun in the NHL.

Kahun has been with four different teams over his first three NHL seasons, a surprising number given the fact he's posted decent offensive numbers (34 goals, 83 points in 186 games) for a depth player. Kahun played in 48 of Edmonton's 56 games in 2020-21, but he became an unrestricted free agent when the Oilers declined to give him a qualifying offer this summer. Kahun has remained unsigned late into the summer, opening up the possibility he may have to settle for a tryout agreement or perhaps continue his career overseas. Either way, there's virtually no fantasy value here.
Kahun will join his fourth team in three seasons when he suits up for the Oilers in 2020-21. Last year, he had 12 goals and 31 points in 56 appearances split between the Penguins and the Sabres, the second year in a row in which he's topped the 30-point mark. The Czech forward is a useful depth scorer who should be able to compete for a bottom-six job this year, and he could put up decent numbers if he skates on the third line with Kyle Turris. The 25-year-old is a solid depth option for fantasy managers in deeper formats, but he's unlikely to provide any physicality if his scoring isn't up to par. Kahun's value would, of course, skyrocket if he's is able to earn a spot on fellow German Leon Draisaitl's wing.
Kahun submitted a rock-solid campaign while skating in a middle-six role for Chicago last year, registering 13 goals, 24 assists, 137 shots and a plus-10 rating in 82 games. Nonetheless, the 24-year-old forward simply wasn't in the Blackhawks' plans for the future, so they decided to send him and a fifth-round pick to the Penguins in exchange for defenseman Olli Maatta in June. Pittsburgh has a lot of depth up front, but Kahun should still see middle-six minutes while getting occasional work on the power play with his new club in 2019-20. That said, last year's performance could represent his ceiling rather than his potential, so don't overdraft him.
Kahun is known as a fluid skater who's mindful of what goes on the defensive zone. The German pivot is definitely not devoid of offense, either, as evidenced by his amassing 12 goals and 29 assists over 42 games for Munich (DEL) last season. He won a spot on Chicago's 23-man roster to open the new season, but a lot would have to go wrong for the Blackhawks to park Kahun in the top six on a consistent basis.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Heading back to Buffalo?
CFree Agent
October 7, 2020
Kahun's agent said Wednesday that his client is in talks to sign with the Sabres, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite not being tendered a qualifying offer by the Sabres, it appears the two sides are trying to bring Kahun back. Kahun was a solid middle-six option for Buffalo last season, tallying 12 goals and 31 points in 56 contests. If he returns to Buffalo, it will likely be at a team-friendly deal; however, Kahun's agent followed up with reporters saying that he thought Buffalo was a great option for his client.
