Hordichuk may sit in the press box just as often as he does on the bench this year as he is the type of player that only gets to participate when the coach thinks a little toughness is needed.
The Oilers were looking to add toughness to the lineup as they felt teams had taken advantage of their size last season, so Hordichuk was signed to police the ice. If you're looking for goals in the fantasy realm, look elsewhere as Hordichuk has only eight in the past five seasons. But if you need PIMs, then Hordichuk could be your man.
As his 142 penalty minutes from last season indicate, Hordichuk remains one of the most active pugilists in the NHL. He’ll be in the same role again as the Canucks’ enforcer, so don’t expect any sort of fantasy value outside of PIM.
Hordichuk served last season as the Canucks' top enforcer and will once again assume the role. He does most of his talking on the ice with his fist, limiting his fantasy production to leagues that award penalty minutes.
The Canucks brought Hordichuk in this offseason to play the role of enforcer. His offense is non-existent, but he is bound to crack plenty of skulls this season. The only way Hordichuk can help a fantasy squad is if your league rewards KO's.
Hordichuk is your typical "energy" line player. For a tough guy he does display a decent scoring touch, but make no mistake, he is on the ice to shut down opposing forwards and to intimidate. Hordichuk's 687 career penalty minutes makes him a good consideration if you need help in the goon category.
The Predators "goon" by the team's standards enters his second full season with Nashville in 2006-07. He brings little fantasy value to the table aside from PIM's despite posting career highs in goals and assists last season with (7,6) in 74 games.
Hodrichuk, who once had 369 PIMs in a season in the IHL, will fill an enforcer role for the Predators.
