June 28, 2023
Stramel was selected 21st overall by the Wild in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Stramel, who played for the University of Wisconsin last season, is a muscular power forward who forces his way into plays based on his thick, athletic frame. He upped his game in a bottom-six role for Team USA at the U20 World Junior Championship and was a net-front presence on the top power play at the U18 Worlds. But Stramel's skills are limited, and his ability to read plays is sometimes a step behind. He'll be a blast to watch on the ice as a straight-ahead forechecker and a battering ram, but Stramel likely isn't going to deliver offense for the Wild or your fantasy squad.

Stramel will transfer to Michigan State from Wisconsin, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
Stramel managed just eight points in 34 games with the Badgers this season and will see if he can find increased productivity with the Spartans. Selected by the Wild with the 21st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the 19-year-old center will likely spend another season or two developing in both college and the minors before getting a look at an NHL roster spot.
