The luster is beginning to wear off for Gormley, the Coyotes' 2010 first-round draft pick. He's not been able to crack the NHL lineup on a consistent basis yet, and has also seen his performance in the AHL dip; at Portland last season, Gormley only managed 10 points in 23 games. During his 27 games in the NHL, Gormley scored only two goals and chipped in two assists, with none of the points coming in his last 12 games. The opportunity still exists for Gormley to seize a spot in the Coyotes' top three defensive pairings, but in order to do so, he has to pass several players who are ahead of him on the depth chart.
