RWBuffalo Sabres Free Agent
February 28, 2016
Guptill and three other players were traded to the Sabres on Saturday, reports the Democrat & Chornicle.
ANALYSIS Guptill, Eric O'Dell, Cole Schneider and Michael Sdao were sent to Buffalo in exchange for Jason Akeson, Phil Varone and Jerome Leduc. Though the trade is not expected to make a significant impact at the NHL level, this is a big trade for AHL Rochester. Guptill was a three-year standout for the University of Michigan and was part of the trade that saw Jason Spezza head to Dallas. The former third-round pick has spent most of the season in the ECHL and will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season. Given his production and the Sabres' deep pool of prospects, it remains to be seen if he is part of the team's long-term plans.
The Atlantic Division features this year's No. 1 overall pick, the player that had the best statistical year, and Jon Litterine's top overall NHL prospect. See which is which in Jon Litterine's article.
