Naslund, with just 55 points in 2007-08, is coming off his worst season since 1997-98 but the feeling is that he can still be an effective top-six forward with the right talent around him. Naslund, playing at the valuable left wing spot, may be worthy of attention in standard 12-team leagues again.
The Canucks' sniper looks to get back on track in his free agency year and looks like a solid candidate for the "Teemu Selanne Re-emergence Trophy". With a bit more success with his shot and he could challenge 40 goals and 80 points.
The sniper no longer has Todd Bertuzzi's baggage to carry around and the lighter load should do wonders. Expectations are high and a return to 90+ points is completely reasonable. Naslund may be devalued due to his prior two years, but owners willing to take a chance on him will reap the benefits all the way to their league championships.
In 2003-04, he finished fourth in overall scoring with 84 points on 35 goals and 49 assists. In fact, he’s finished in the top 5 in scoring in each of the last three NHL seasons. With the talent the Canucks have through their lineup, we don’t see him slowing down this year. A return to the 100 point mark should happen this year.
