Gilmour will fight for a spot on the Rangers' blue line in camp after posting five points and a minus-11 rating in 28 games as a rookie last season. Originally a seventh-round pick of the Flames in 2013, the 25-year-old blueliner flashed some offensive skills in the AHL with 26 points in 44 games prior to being called up and 25 points in 76 games the previous season. Gilmour posted a minus-54 rating over those two AHL campaigns, though, and his poor defensive-zone play will make earning consistent playing time in New York an uphill battle.
