Arcobello signed a two-year contract with NLA squad SC Bern on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Arcobello hit the ice in just 20 games with Toronto this season, despite the number of fellow Marlies that received significantly more action in the majors this season. The 27-year-old has earned the journeyman title after spending time with five different organizations over the last two seasons. If the winger can improve his resume in Switzerland, there remains a chance he could return to the NHL in the future.

Arcobello was a revelation to start the season as a replacement for Sam Gagner, who had broken his jaw. The diminutive center (5-8, 166 lbs) posted 10 points in 13 games playing on the team's second line, showing that he could certainly translate his strong AHL production into solid NHL numbers. He then found it much harder to navigate the ice as a bottom-six guy and watched his ice time plummet. A shoulder injury then ended his year. He is expected to be healthy entering training camp and could just win Gagner's vacated spot on the second line. Forty points are within reach in that situation. Watch him in camp.
As a bottom six forward Arcobello was having a decent season with four goals and 18 points in 41 games before his season was ended due to shoulder surgery. He is expected to be healthy entering training camp and should once again compete for the same role as last season and could have a pretty good shot at winning that job as he would have to be placed on waivers should Edmonton try and send him back down to Oklahoma City.
Arcobello had a four-year college career at Yale and will be 24 before the season starts. He is a small forward with some skill, but is unlikely to ever play in the NHL because of the extreme heights of the other young talents in the Oil Patch.
Arcobello's first professional season out of college (Yale) went well, as he was promoted from the ECHL to the AHL after posting seven goals and 13 assists in 33 games. With Oklahoma City, he continued to turn heads with 11 goals and 22 points in 26 games. He certainly needs another season or two in the minors before having a true shot at the NHL, but injuries can always open up a roster spot during the season.
