Erixon agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Vaxjo Lakers HC (Sweden) on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Erixon logged 28 games for AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season, in which he notched five assists, 18 PIM and a plus-6 rating. In his career, the blueliner has appeared in 93 NHL games for the Rangers, Blue Jackets, Blackhawks and Maple Leafs, but was never able to earn a permanent spot on a 23-man roster. A move back to his native Sweden likely marks the end of Erixon's time in North America, while he figures to finish with two goals, 12 assists and 38 PIM in the NHL.

Erixon was a force off the AHL blue line last season (38 points in 40 games) and will finally get a shot at carving out a regular role in Columbus. Don't expect a repeat of his offensive numbers from a spot on the bottom pairing, but at just 23 years old he's still got time to grow into his game at the NHL level.
Erixon bounced between the NHL and AHL last season and played a steady game at both levels. He doesn't have much offensive upside though, and could be looking at a tough fight with Ryan Murray for a spot in the Blue Jackets' top six.
Famous for stating he didn't want to play in Calgary after the Flames made him their first-round pick in 2009, Erixson was shipped to the Rangers last year where he spent much of his time in the AHL with the Connecticut Whale, posting 33 points in 52 games. Perhaps the move to Columbus will humble him, after all, he's not playing in Calgary. The Rangers included him in their Rick Nash trade this past summer. Still young, Erixon definitely has offensive upside to his game, but didn't produce much during his 18 NHL contests with the Rangers, managing two points. Surprisingly, Columbus's blue line is crowded with puck-movers in Jack Johnson, Nikita Nikitin and James Wisniewski, but, given the lack of talent in in the bottom third of the Jackets' blue line, Erixon could make a run at snagging a regular role.
The son of former Ranger defensive forward Jan Erixon, Tim Erixon is a former first-round draft pick for the Calgary Flames. The Rangers traded for him after the Flames couldn't sign him and he is generally consider NHL ready by scouts. He's expected to compete for one of the final defensemen spot and has powerplay quarterback potential.
Tim is the son of former New York Ranger Jan Erixon. The Flames hope that he can turn into a solid NHL player like his father was but we are several years away from seeing if that will come to fruition.
