Bass played more games at AHL Milwaukee last season (17) than he did for the Predators (9) after being placed on waivers in November, and wound up spending most of the season on injured reserve. With just five points and 107 PIM in 75 career NHL games, Bass is more of a fighter than a scorer, and therefore doesn't boast much by way of fantasy value.
AHL enforcer Bass provides organizational depth for the Blue Jackets.
A depth center who managed just one assist in 14 games at the NHL level but racked up 32 PIMs last season. If Bass sees regular duty with Columbus, he could put up useful enforcer numbers, but he's a long shot to win that kind of role.
Minor league depth center plays a physical game, but has no scoring touch.
Due to Ottawa's recent influx of young and talented prospects, Bass has fallen down the depth chart in the past two years. He should spend the majority of the 2010-11 season in the AHL killing penalties and being a leader on the ice.
Bass will likely spend most of this year playing for Ottawa's AHL affiliate in Binghamton. The gritty forward doesn't have a lot of offensive upside, but could find himself playing some minutes on Ottawa's fourth line as an injury call-up.
Bass will likely see a lot of time on Ottawa's 4th line playing a checking role. While he won't score a lot of points, he should get a healthy dose of PIMs as he will throw down when needed.
