This player will have no fantasy value in 2013-14 and can be ignored in all formats.
King was acquired to provide a physical presence for the team after Donald Brashear's departure. Since his services were rarely used a season ago, he was recently released, but cleared waivers and will be back in Washington when the season starts. With an injury-plagued season in 2010-11, he only played 16 games, and it is uncertain if the team will use a roster spot on him. King may end up in AHL Hershey to start the year.
King was acquired to provide a physical presence for the team. Ever since Donald Brashear's departure, the team has not had an enforcer, and in King, that is exactly and just about all you get. He is there to protect the likes of Backstrom and Ovechkin.
King's thumb injury is keeping him out of traning camp and preseason games thus far. It is believe he and Cam Janssen are competiting for the same enforcer role. Both players may make the team, but only one will be active most nights. Coming off a shoulder injury that cost him all but one game last season, King really needs to get healthy.
King's primary fantasy value comes in leagues that positively count penalty minutes. He's not the type of enforcer who can be counted on to start every game but he'll likely make the team and dress when needed or more often if his overall game improves.
King is more of an enforcer than a scorer, but he probably won't even help you in that category, notching only 52 PIMs in 27 games last season. He simply needs to see more ice time to become more of a fantasy threat.
