Cliche was traded to the Islanders for Taylor Beck on Monday, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports, adding that Cliche will be assigned to AHL Bridgeport.
ANALYSIS
This was a swap of minor-league players on a busy trade deadline day. Cliche, who is 28 years old, picked up 19 points in 38 games with AHL San Antonio but hasn't appeared in an NHL game this season. He has decent vision on the ice and is known for his solid defense, but he's well off the map in fantasy leagues considering that he only mustered 14 points in 150 games with the Avs between 2013-15.

Cliche put up respectable numbers (17 G, 24 A) in the AHL last year, but has never been able to carve out a role when given the chance at the NHL level. He'll get a look at filling a bottom-six role in training camp, but will need to build off last year's effort if he wants to stand out and earn a spot.
Cliche never has really developed the scoring touch that many forecasted when he was drafted as the 24-year old netted just 14 goals in 62 games for Manchester in the AHL. He could fill a depth role for the Kings if injuries dictate but he's likely headed back to the AHL again.
Cliche spent the season in the AHL, registering 25 points in 66 games for Manchester. He's nothing more than a depth player for the Kings if he cracks the roster.
Cliche hasn't been able to tap into his potential since joining the ranks of the AHL, netting just 16 goals in 83 games over two seasons. He's still young enough to take his game to the next level but he'll need to separate himself from a talented group of young wingers in the LA system before we can take him too seriously.
Cliche had a mildly disappointing debut season (11 G, 10 A in 51 games) at Manchester of the AHL last season after a solid career in the QMJHL but has plenty of time on his side. He's set for another season in the AHL and could eventually develop into a nice scoring winger.
Marc-Andre Cliche has good hands and nice offensive skills; he possesses a high ceiling as a scoring winger and fills a need for New York as a forward on the right side of the ice. Marc appeared in 66 games with Lewiston of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) last season, registering 37 goals and 45 assists for 82 points, along with 60 penalty minutes.
Cliche was selected 56th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Rangers, and is expected to play junior hockey for a year or two.
