Kostopoulos will hang up his skates following the conclusion of the 2017-18 campaign.
ANALYSIS
Kostopoulos' value to the Penguins organization extends behind his contributions on the ice -- 17 points in 26 games this season -- as he serves as the veteran leader in a locker room full of fresh-faced kids who probably have never shaved. While he hasn't played in the NHL since 2012-13 when he was with the Devils, the 39-year-old racked up 61 goals, 96 assists and 723 PIM in 630 NHL contests. Don't be surprised to see Kostopoulos switch roles and rejoin the team as a coach in the near future.

Kostopoulos drew some attention following his jaw-breaking hit on Detroit’s Brad Stuart last season. Known for his burly style of play, the 6-foot winger has carved out a niche as the resident tough guy in Calgary and will keep his fighting gloves for 2011-12. Any scoring will be considered a bonus as he's only produced 144 points (56 G, 88 A) in 534 career games.
Kostopoulos is a tireless role player who showcases amazing consistency from year to year. No. 19 played in all 82 games of 2009-10, finished second on the team in hits (160), and racked up his second consecutive year of 106 penalty minutes. Interestingly enough, Kosto has finished with exactly 22 points four times in his eight-year career. Given his excellent all-around game, he makes for a very sneaky fantasy pick in late rounds of fantasy drafts. At the very least, you know what you're getting from him.
Kostopoulos is adept at both creating and killing penalties. You might recall him playing for Montreal last season where he notched 22 points (8G, 14A) in 78 games. Now in Carolina, he figures to bring a great deal of energy to an already quick offense. He has a new contract that will pay him $700,000 this season, $950,000 in 2010-11; and he’s tabbed to enter the final year of his contract bringing home a cool $1.1 million.
Kotsopoulos is a fourth-line grinder and banger who has no roto relevance.
Kotsopoulos is at best a fourth line grinder who will not have an offensive role with the Habs EVER.
Probably will make the team as a third-line winger, and tally about 30 points this season.
Put up some excellent numbers in the AHL last season, and is going to push for a spot on the roster coming out of camp. Probably will start camp with the Manchester Monarchs and be called up at some point during the season.
