Goalie
Semyon Varlamov, COL vs CGY ($7,900): Varlamov is coming off of a great effort against the Canucks in a victory Monday. The Russian netminder will look to bounce back against the Flames, as he allowed five goals on 29 shots against them his last time out. He may be a popular play, but Varlamov should see at least 30 shots while earning a victory, as Colorado is one of the better home teams in the NHL with a 21-8-1 record at Pepsi Center.
Center
Brayden Point, TB vs BUF ($6,500): The Lightning should have their way with the lowly Sabres at home, as they average 3.54 GPG, the most in the NHL. The Sabres have a team GAA of 3.45, which is the fourth-highest mark in the league, and Point has had success against them in his young career. In six games against the Sabres, Point has recorded three goals and three assists to go along with 14 shots on goal. The 21-year-old has garnered a hefty amount of ice time, specifically over his last 10 outings, averaging over 22 minutes.
Bo Horvat, VAN vs NYR ($5,800): Horvat has not recorded a point in his last three games but has fired 13 shots on goal over that span. In his five games prior, Horvat recorded four goals and should get back on track Wednesday against the disappointing Rangers. Over their last four weeks, the Rangers have allowed the most fantasy points to centers, including 26 goals, 32 assists, and 150 shots on goal over a 13-game stretch.
Wing
Brendan Gallagher, MTL vs NYI ($6,800): Allowing the second-most fantasy points to right wingers over the last month, the Islanders have surrendered 15 goals, 14 assists and 112 shots on goal over a 12-game stretch. Gallagher comes in with four points — one goal — and 25 SOG over his last six outings. The second-line winger is third in the NHL with 7.18 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes and has 21 goals on the campaign while averaging 3.37 SOG per game.
Jordan Eberle, NYI at MTL ($5,800): Three goals and 17 SOG is what the second-line winger has contributed over the last five games, and he's netted 22 goals and dished out 23 assists on the campaign. Averaging 3.24 GPG — fourth-best in the NHL — the Islanders should light the lamp a few times Wednesday.
Matthew Tkachuk, CGY at COL ($6,800): Tkachuk had his six-game point streak broken Tuesday, but he's still rolling with four goals, four assists, and 19 SOG over his last seven contests. In his second year in the NHL, Tkachuk has posted 47 points — 24 goals — in 62 games. With 6.69 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes — fifth-most in the league — the left winger is in a prime spot to produce against the Avalanche, who have allowed the second-most fantasy points to left wingers over the last month.
Defense
Tyson Barrie, COL vs CGY ($5,400): With seven points — four goals — over his last four games, Barrie draws into a nice matchup against the Flames on Wednesday. Over their last 13 games, the Flames have allowed seven goals and 24 assists to defensemen. In his last eight games against the Flames, Barrie has a goal, five assists, 15 SOG and nine blocks. Look for the 26-year-old to contribute to the potent Avalanche offense, as Calgary is in a tough spot in its second road game in as many nights.
Alexander Edler, VAN vs NYR ($5,300): Edler is another Canuck to consider in a soft home matchup. Over his last last four games, Edler has recorded three assists and blocked 13 shots. The 31-year-old has a great matchup against the Rangers, who have allowed 33 points — 11 goals — to defensemen over their last 13 games.
