DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Breakdown

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Breakdown

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Tuesday's NHL slate begins at 7:00 PM Eastern time and features 10 games. Below, you'll find an overview of the matchups and suggested options for crafting an effective lineup.

SLATE PREVIEW

The Golden Knights should excel in all phases in New Jersey as both teams cap back-to-back sets, while Florida's explosive offense should continue to find success at home against Minnesota. Lightning-Predators and Capitals-Sharks are both games with no shortage of offensive talent, standing out in a slate that otherwise features a lot of defensive-minded clubs.

GOALIES

Darcy Kuemper ($7,900) has been as stingy as they come, with a 1.97 GAA and .935 save percentage. That shouldn't change against a bottom-three Blue Jackets offense that's scoring only 2.54 goals per game.

Chris Driedger ($8,100) shut out the Predators on Saturday in his season debut, and he had a stellar .938 save percentage in the AHL prior to getting called up. He'll get right back in there at home against the below-average Wild offense, and Driedger will be a high-risk, high-reward choice given his small sample size.

If Marc-Andre Fleury (personal) isn't ready to return, Garret Sparks ($7,800) should get the start in Vegas' favorable matchup against the Devils after watching Malcolm Subban beat the Rangers on Monday.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

David Krejci ($6,200) should continue to be a strong play as long as he's filling in for Patrice Bergeron (lower body) on the top line. The Czech center has a 3-4-7 line in his past five games, and he finds himself in an ideal fantasy situation between two elite wingers in David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand.

Maple Leafs captain John Tavares ($6,800) has led by example recently, as he comes into this game against the Flyers with a three-game multi-point streak that's featured four goals and two assists. Last year's 44-goal season showed just how hard to contain Tavares can be, so he has the ability to carry lineups while he's hot.

He doesn't get as much attention as some of his more high-profile teammates, but Capitals winger Jakub Vrana ($5,700) has carried play during his active four-game point streak. Vrana has two goals, three assists and 20 points over that span, and he should keep rolling against a Sharks team that's played better of late but is still surrendering 3.25 goals per game.

Jordan Eberle ($4,000) finally got the goal monkey off his back with two tallies in his 15th game of the season Monday against the Red Wings. With a career average of 25 goals per 82 games, Eberle's primed to build off that success in another favorable matchup against a Canadiens team that's winless in its last eight games.

FORWARD LINE STACKS

Panthers vs. Wild

Aleksander Barkov (C - $6,700), Jonathan Huberdeau (W - $6,700), Evgenii Dadonov (W - $5,300)

This line combined for 93 goals and 258 points last season, and the trio is currently on pace for 88 goals and 262 points in 2019-20. Barkov and Huberdeau share the team lead with 31 points through 26 games, while Dadonov has 21. The plodding Wild can't keep up with this line's speed, so expect a productive effort against a Minnesota team that's been outscored 86-78 through 27 games.

Golden Knights at Devils

Paul Stastny (C - $4,300), Mark Stone (W - $6,800), Max Pacioretty (W - $7,300)

Pacioretty leads the team in points (26) and shots (98). Stone's second on the Golden Knights with 24 points and is one goal off the team lead with 11. Stastny has found his game recently with two goals on 15 shots in the past four games, giving the three-time 70-point scorer eight goals this season. This line should carve up a Devils team that ranks among the league's five most generous defensively and has lost its last two games by a combined 11-1 score.

Lightning at Predators

Brayden Point (C - $6,400), Nikita Kucherov (W - $7,500), Ondrej Palat (W - $5,100)

This line won't come cheap and the Predators aren't traditionally considered a team to stack against, but the upside of this unit is undeniable given Nashville's porous defense of late. The Predators have won only three of their past 11 games, getting outscored 41-26 in that stretch (3.73 goals allowed per game). Meanwhile, this line features Tampa Bay's top three goal-scorers — Point has 10, Kucherov has nine and Palat has eight. Kucherov has a 5-12-17 line in his past 10 games, discovering the scoring touch he displayed in last season's 128-point campaign. Point has six goals and two assists in his past six games, while Palat brings this line a modicum of affordability.

DEFENSEMEN

Shea Theodore ($4,500) is Vegas' best source of offense from the blue line, with 12 points in 29 games after last season's 37-point campaign. Make sure not to overlook him if you're stacking Golden Knights in New Jersey.

Ryan Ellis ($5,300) has 19 points in 26 games, and he's shown off his well-rounded skill set with 24 shots and 16 blocks over the past six games. He should deliver strong value against a Panthers team that's allowing 3.46 goals per game.

Quinn Hughes ($4,300) has five assists in his past three games, giving the standout rookie blueliner 23 points in 27 games. He remains quite affordable relative to his modest valuation heading into a favorable matchup against Ottawa.

Erik Karlsson ($5,400) of the Sharks makes for a nice contrarian play on the blue line against a formidable Capitals team. The smooth-skating Swede has heated up with five points in his past four games, but Karlsson remains priced well below where he was at his peak despite still being only 29 years of age.
