DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Martin Jones, SJ at MIN ($7,800): Even without Erik Karlsson and Evander Kane, the Sharks still look like one of the league's strongest teams, and expected Wild starter Devan Dubnyk has a sub-.910 save percentage since February. If the Sharks netminder isn't appetizing, Carter Hart (lower body), Robin Lehner (upper body) and Mikko Koskinen (illness) are viable picks should they be available.

CENTER

Leon Draisaitl, EDM vs. NYR ($7,100): Draisaitl is on a 13-game point streak and has not been blanked on the score sheet in over a month. The Oilers have won six of their last nine games and look like a much better group without the heavy burden of being expected to win. The Oilers offense isn't very good as a whole, but Draisaitl is an elite player and no one on the Rangers defense matches up.

Christian Dvorak, ARI at CHI ($4,100): It was going to take a while to get going after missing the first four months of the season, but Dvorak seems to be hitting his stride with two goals in his last game. He played a season-high 18 minutes and won 12 faceoffs, re-establishing himself as the team's top center. Derek Stepan is still nursing an injury, so expect Dvorak to get a lot of minutes against a rival as the Coyotes fight for a playoff spot.

WING

Mikko Rantanen, COL vs. CAR ($7,100): Rantanen has four points in his past two games, and at this price offers up good value especially when Patrick Kane costs $7,900. As the Jets showed, the Hurricanes are still prone to the occasional bad game, and the odds are in the Avs' favour playing at home. Despite the Avs' big three getting split up, Rantanen has still managed to score five points in five games in March.

Oskar Lindblom, PHI vs. OTT ($4,200): I like any player facing the Sens, but Lindblom could be a smart gamble with Jakub Voracek suspended for the next two games. The Swedish rookie has been very impressive lately, scoring 14 points in 30 games since January after going 13 games without a point in December. His ice time has increased dramatically, averaging 17 minutes in March after averaging 12, 12 and eight in the first three months of the season.

Andrew Ladd, NYI vs. CLS ($3,300): Barry Trotz has already confirmed that Ladd will return to the lineup and skate on the second line, though I'm skeptical about Ladd staying there for the entire game. He's no longer the player he once was, but with 10 points in 18 games, Ladd's numbers have improved greatly over the past two seasons. I simply like Ladd's value here as a top-six winger priced as a bottom-six player.

DEFENSE

Brent Burns, SJ at MIN ($6,800): The $300 premium over Morgan Rielly doesn't seem too expensive, and he's the only defenseman available who averages closer to five fantasy points per game than four. He will play tons of minutes, as usual, and remains a low-floor candidate with his ability to put a lot of shots on goal.

Travis Sanheim, PHI vs. OTT ($5,000): Since Scott Gordon took over, Sanheim has averaged more than 21 minutes per game and scored 19 points in 30 games since January. It's clear that Gordon thinks more highly of him than Dave Hakstol, and Sanheim has rewarded Gordon and the Flyers by playing the best hockey of his career. He's been playing on the top pairing with Ivan Provorov and will get tons of opportunities to score against a bad Sens squad.
