DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MON vs. DET ($7,800) – Price has allowed 11 goals in two games since returning from injury and the Habs have won just two of their past 10, but guess who's been even worse? That's right, the Red Wings, who have won just once in their past 10. Price is having an awful season, but his career numbers against the Wings are outstanding: 12-4-1 in 17 games with a .930 save percentage and 1.98 GAA, including two wins this year in which he allowed just two goals. The Wings have been held to two goals or less in four of their past six games.

CENTER

Vincent Trocheck, FLA at NYI ($7,300) – Trocheck snapped a three-game scoring drought with three points Saturday against the Coyotes, and now he gets to face a historically bad Islanders defense. With the three-point effort Trocheck has now scored over 10 points in each month this season and sits just five points behind Aleksander Barkov for the team lead. In two games against the Islanders this season, Trocheck has already notched five assists, bringing his career total to 13 points in 11 games. He leads all Panthers with 253 shots on goal, which makes him an ideal value play against a team that can't keep pucks out of their net.

Jonathan Drouin, MON vs. DET ($4,800) – I swear there's no Habs bias here but consider this: Drouin is on a three-game point streak and has also managed to register at least one shot in eight straight games. He's scored nine points in nine career games against the Wings and 26 of his 40 points have come on home ice this season. Drouin has trouble against bigger defensemen who can skate, but the slick forward should have no problems against the likes of Jonathan Ericsson, Trevor Daley or Niklas Kronwall, none of whom can keep up with Drouin's speed.

WING

Evander Kane, SJ at CHI ($7,100) – He's scored 12 points in 12 games for the Sharks in what may end up being one of the best trade-deadline acquisitions of the year and scored two goals with 11 PIM on Saturday against Calgary. Kane has always been a streaky player who tends to score in bunches, and he'll have a good chance to do so against a team that doesn't have much defensive depth and a pair of goalies that can't stop pucks. The frustration level in Chicago must be high, and Kane shines in games where it gets chippy and physical because he's not afraid to throw hits or go into the dirty areas.

Teuvo Teravainen, CAR vs. OTT ($6,600) – His seven-game point streak was snapped Saturday against Ottawa in a 5-2 win, but in the second half of a home-and-home against one of the league's worst teams it'd be very surprising if Teravainen was held off the scoresheet again. Erik Karlsson will not be making the trip due to personal reasons, and Ottawa's goaltending is clearly not a problem for the Hurricanes. Teravainen has scored 12 points in 12 games in March.

Clayton Keller, ARI at TB ($5,600) – Tampa Bay has to be careful here because it looks like Andrei Vasilevskiy is showing signs of fatigue; he's allowed six goals in two of his past five starts and his GAA has climbed for the third straight month. Keller, meanwhile, is looking to finish the season on a high note and boasts an eight-game point streak, including two points in each of his past three games. Tampa Bay still should have the advantage here, but defensively they haven't been very sharp and Keller is Arizona's clear-cut No. 1 scoring option.

DEFENSE

Drew Doughty, LA vs. CGY ($5,800) – Not only will Doughty not have to face Sean Monahan or Johnny Gaudreau, he's also been a beast in March, scoring 12 points in 12 games. In three games against the Flames this season he's already notched four assists, and when the stakes get higher Doughty always steps up. The Kings will leap into third place in the division with a win, and the Flames are a wounded animal, having lost five straight including a 5-1 thrashing Saturday against the Sharks.

Shea Theodore, VGK vs. COL ($4,000) – The Avs aren't intimidating on the road, and the Knights have the clear advantage at home in the second half of a home-and-home series. The Knights generated just one goal Saturday against the Avs but Theodore managed to notch an assist, extending his assist streak to three games and giving him 23 points in 54 games this season. Theodore is a dynamic offensive defenseman who can go end to end with the puck, and the Avs' mediocre defense will be very susceptible to plays like that, especially on the road where they won't always be able to get the matchups they want.
