Block carded a one-over 71 in the final round to finish in a tie for 15th place at the PGA Championship.
ANALYSISIt's cool to see one club professional make the cut at the PGA Championship, but to do what Block did this week was incredible. After three straight rounds of 70, Block entered the final round just six back of the lead and earned a tee time with
Rory McIlroy. Block battled throughout the first 14 holes to two-over-par, but everything changed on 15. Block would dunk a 7-iron on the par-3 15th hole for an ace and send the New York crowd into a frenzy. He then made a couple of amazing par saves on 17 and 18 to finish T15 on the number and secure a spot in next year's PGA Championship at Valhalla. Due to Block's inspiring performance at Oak Hill, he also received a special exemption into next week's PGA Tour event at Colonial. It's unlikely he is able to back up this type of performance, but what a special week it was for this 46-year-old club professional from California.
