Percy is another player outside the top 100 that splits his time between the U.S. and international play. The 48-year-old Aussie veteran is rather effective with his PGA starts, as he required just 17 events this past season to become fully exempt for next year. His best finishes in 2022 were T4, T7 and T8 at the Corales Punta Cana, the Puerto Rico Open and the Wyndham Championship, respectively. Percy is showing no signs of slowing down with age, and he is a relatively safe bet to stay competitive in 2023.
The 47-year-old Australian made more than half his cuts last season and posted a pair of top-10s, albeit in smaller events. He did lead the tour in greens in regulation, showing his prowess with his irons but struggled mightily in every other aspect of his game. He lacks fantasy upside as he's unlikely to make many PGA Tour starts this season.
Percy was bothered by a rib injury throughout summer 2020, which caused him to withdraw mid-tournament from both the Workday Charity Open in July and Wyndham Championship in August. The 46-year-old Aussie has never advanced to the FedEx Cup Playoffs, and that didn't change this year as he either missed the cut or withdrew in nine of 17 events, though he did collect a top-10 at the Safeway Open. Percy ranked 22nd on Tour in SG: Approach through 33 measured rounds, but his off-the-tee and short-game performance lagged well behind.
Percy has spent a lot of time on the PGA Tour over the past decade, both as a member and as the benefactor of sponsor's exemptions. The problem is, he hasn't really parlayed all of those starts into much. In 136 starts, Percy has just one top-3 and six top-10s. He has made more than $3 million on the PGA Tour, but his average of little more than $22k per start is a number that would leave him outside of the top 150 each season. Percy will struggle to get into the top 125 this season and ultimately fall short.
A solid iron player by trade, Percy is a veteran journeyman who finished 144th on the points list last season. He went to the Web.com Finals to retain his card for a third consecutive year, but narrowly missed, finishing 29th. He'll, therefore, have conditional status on the tour this season. His lack of results while retaining PGA Tour status heretofore is something to behold with just four career top-10s in six seasons, including just one last year. It's almost sad to note that he experienced the best earnings of his career last year at $623,694, which speaks to his lack of upside. Keep your distance from Percy in drafts.
Percy finished T10 in the first Web.com Finals event, and that was enough to carry him to a PGA Tour card for the second consecutive year after missing in 2014-15. He went T61-MC in the last two Finals events to cap an unimpressive year, carding two top-25s in 15 PGA Tour events. Expect more of the same this season from the 42-year-old Australian.
The 40-year-old Aussie returns to the PGA tour after a one-year absence, having Web.com Tour victory and third-place finish facilitate his promotion. In 2013, Percy missed 13-of-21 PGA cuts, with only one top 25. A similar 2014-15 seems in the cards for him.
