Rhodes turned his career around after signing with the Colts. Rhodes, who was a first-round draft pick in 2013, earned Pro-Bowl nods in 2016, 2017 and 2019 with the Vikings. However, Rhodes became a major liability in coverage late in his Minnesota career and finished the 2019 season with zero interceptions and six pass defenses in 15 games. After signing a contract with the Colts, the 30-year-old impressed with 42 tackles, two interceptions and 12 passes defensed in 16 games. Rhodes will continue in a starting role at cornerback and be a key piece in the Indianapolis secondary.
Rhodes, who was a first-round draft pick in 2013, started 97 of 104 games for Minnesota over the past seven seasons, earning Pro-Bowl nods in 2016, 2017 and 2019. The last one was solely a product of name recognition, as Rhodes became a major liability in coverage and finished the 2019 campaign with zero interceptions and six pass defenses in 15 games. As a result, the Vikings decided to cut the cornerback, bowing out after the third season of a five-year, $70.1 million contract. The 30-year-old now has a nice opportunity to reboot his career in Indianapolis, where the recent release of Pierre Desir leaves a vacancy at one of the team's starting cornerback spots.
Save for the 2016 season, Rhodes has never been known for causing turnovers, but the 2013 first-round pick is still widely regarded as one of the best coverage corners in the entire league. That's unfortunately the recipe for a below-average IDP commodity, as Rhodes simply doesn't rack up enough tackles to warrant much draft-day consideration.
Like a lot of the big-name cornerbacks out there, Rhodes is an example of a highly-effective player who's role isn't conducive to high stat counts. Case in point is the fact that he didn't finish among the top-40 defensive backs in standard IDP scoring during the 2017 season, despite earning first-team All-Pro honors. With this pattern unlikely to change as long as he continues to shadow other team's No. 1 receivers, Rhodes isn't worth much consideration on draft day.
Rhodes lived up to the hype in 2016 as he emerged as one of the league's top shutdown corners, racking up 52 tackles, 11 passes defensed, five interceptions, one forced fumble, and a defensive touchdown through 14 games. The 2013 first-rounder will be the Vikings' top option at cornerback moving forward, with veteran Terence Newman, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander also factoring into the mix. Rhodes made his first career Pro Bowl in 2016, and he'll certainly be a candidate to do so again this year.
Rhodes, drafted 25th overall in the 2013 draft, projects to once again start at cornerback for the Vikings alongside veteran Terence Newman. The team added Mackensie Alexander in the second round of the 2016 draft, whose talent could push the likes of Rhodes to the next level knowing he has additional help in the secondary. The 26-year-old racked up 58 tackles, 11 passes defensed, and one interception throughout 16 games during the 2015 season.
Rhodes graded as one of the top cover corners in the league in the second half of his sophomore season. However, that hasn't translated into fantasy stats as he's had just one interception in his career and had 48 tackles each of the last two seasons. He'll start at cornerback and the Vikings are hoping he'll become the leader of the secondary.
The 2013 first-round draft pick emerged as about the only reliable option in Minnesota's secondary last season. He had 48 tackles (41 solo), 10 passes defended and one forced fumble in 13 games. He'll start at cornerback this season opposite Captain Munnerlyn and the Vikings are counting on him improving upon already decent grades as a pass defender.
Rookie Rhodes will start alongside Chris Cook as he looks to help a struggling young secondary.

The Bills hosted Rhodes on a visit Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Rhodes played the last two seasons with the Colts, picking off a combined total of three passes and 19 passes defended in that time. Now 32, Rhodes likely won't return to his prime seasons with the Vikings. However, he could help a Bills' secondary that is currently depleted with current absences, including Tre'Davious White, Christian Benford and Dane Jackson.
