Past Fantasy Outlooks

2018
A 2018 fourth-round pick, Apke made two starts in 15 games during the 2019 season, recording 26 tackles and an interception. His 4.34 speed is rare territory for an NFL safety, but it isn't clear if he has the other skills to justify a long-term role as a starter. Apke will hope to push Sean Davis for a starting role at free safety.
A rookie fourth-round pick with freakish athletic measurables, Apke is competing with Deshazor Everett for a subpackage role as Washington's No. 3 safety. It could turn into a three-down role if D.J. Swearinger or Montae Nicholson is unable to stay healthy.

Roster spot tenuous
CBWashington Commanders
May 28, 2021
Apke's roster spot could be in jeopardy, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2018 fourth-round pick was spotted taking snaps at corner during OTAs, possibly as a way to demonstrate more positional versatility after he lost his starting spot midway through the 2020 season and then saw the team sign Bobby McCain and draft Darrick Forrest in the fifth round to bolster the safety position. At 6-foot-1 and having run a 4.34 40-yard dash at the combine, Apke certainly has the size and speed to play corner, but it remains to be seen if the instincts will be there to afford him quality snaps.
