McSorley, who was with Arizona since the second half of the 2021 season, now figures to serve as the Patriots' third-stringer behind Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. The 2019 sixth-rounder appeared in six games (one start) with the Cardinals last year, completing 45 of 83 pass attempts for 412 yards, no touchdowns and five interceptions while also adding 61 yards on 15 rushes. If injuries press McSorley into action, the 6-0, 202-pounder's mobility would add another wrinkle to the team's attack, but the 27-year-old has limitations as a passer.

McSorley, who made his first NFL start with the Cardinals late last season, signed a one-year deal with the Patriots on Thursday, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McSorley isn't expected to challenge for the starting job, and he may not even make it past final roster cuts. However, he'll be a viable training camp body alongside Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, even if he's highly unlikely to see any regular-season action if he's kept as a third option.
