The Broncos released Jernigan on Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Jernigan spent three games with the Jaguars this season and another two with the Broncos, where he added depth while Dre'Mont Jones (knee) was on IR. It appears Jones could return for this Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs, so Jernigan was cut loose. The 28-year-old will seek a depth role elsewhere.

Jernigan had surgery for a herniated disc in his back and is likely to miss at least six weeks on the PUP list as he recovers. When the former Seminole is able to return, he will need to produce in order to stick in Philadelphia after this season.
Jernigan landed in Philadelphia as part of an offseason trade with the Ravens and now looks to be a starter thanks to Beau Allen’s injury. After a lackluster first three years in the league, Jim Schwartz’s 4-3 defense will offer Jernigan the opportunity for a bit of a breakout. This could be especially true for Jernigan in the sack department, as linemen in Schwartz’s defenses often get more opportunities to attack the quarterback.
Jernigan failed to build upon a promising rookie campaign in 2015, logging three games without a tackle while never really seeming to be operating at full-tilt. Nonetheless, he enters the 2016 season as a returning starter at defensive end, and could very well top the four-sack mark he's reached in each of his first two seasons in the league. Still, he leaves a lot to be desired in the tackle department and isn't worthy of fantasy consideration in IDP formats.
Viewed as a potential first-round pick, Jernigan fell to Baltimore in the second round, and he could compete for a starting job from the get-go. As a rookie interior lineman on a team that largely uses a 3-4 alignment, Jernigan is unlikely to make much of an IDP impact, despite his excellent potential.

Deal with Jags in the works

Coach Doug Marrone said Thursday that a contract is in the works with Jernigan, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
Jernigan had verbally agreed to a contract with the Texans earlier this offseason, but he was never given the chance to pass a physical with the team. Instead, it looks as though the 27-year-old will shore up the Jaguars' interior defensive line depth.
