Terrelle Pryor

An ankle injury derailed Pryor's 2017 campaign in Washington and the team let him walk after the season. The Jets gave him a one-year deal for $4.5 million ($2 million guaranteed), leaving him to battle for targets with Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse and Quincy Enunwa (neck). Pryor's main appeal is his off-the-charts athletic specs - 6-4, 228, with 4.38 speed. Only two years ago, Pryor had 1,007 receiving yards playing with some of the league's worst quarterbacks in Cleveland, so there's reason to think at age 29 he can still be productive playing with the surprisingly competent Josh McCown - or eventually Sam Darnold. Pryor suffered another ankle injury in the offseason and was a limited participant at the start of training camp. He seems to be on track for Week 1, but the missed practice time could make it difficult to earn a key role.

At 6-4, 223, and running a 4.38 40, the converted QB is somewhere between Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones on the athletic scale, something that only partially offsets playing with some of the worst quarterbacks in the league last year: rookie Cody Kessler, Josh McCown, Robert Griffin, Kevin Hogan and Charlie Whitehurst. Even so, Pryor emerged with 1,007 yards, 13.1 YPC and 7.2 YPT, more than passable numbers given his working conditions. Pryor's route running has improved dramatically over the last two seasons as he has gotten more experience and picked up the nuances of the position, and his size and speed make him difficult to match up against and dangerous after the catch. Pryor is also likely to pick up a few extra fantasy points via trick plays, given his experience passing the ball and taking snaps directly as a rusher. In 2017, Pryor heads to Washington for a huge quarterback and offensive upgrade, and even better, he does so in the wake of Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson's departures. That means his chief competition for targets will be recovering second-year man Josh Doctson, slot man Jamison Crowder and concussion-prone tight end Jordan Reed, i.e., Pryor has an excellent chance to be Kirk Cousins' No. 1 target. Pryor underwent surgery in January to repair a ligament tear in his finger, but at press time had recovered.

Pryor is trying to make the grade as an NFL wide receiver, and although his skills are rather raw and he obviously is inexperienced after coming up as a quarterback, his size and speed combination could add needed big-play ability to the Browns' offense. Knowing that, coach Hue Jackson has already drawn up short passes and reverses to get him the ball in practice, but it remains to be seen if he can be trusted with a more balanced workload. As a result, Pryor's progress through training camp and the preseason should be worthwhile to monitor, particularly given the Browns' seemingly wide-open competition to fill out their receiving depth chart.

Pryor is best known for his years as the quarterback at Ohio State, but he'll attempt to revitalize a stale NFL career by making the switch to wide receiver. He certainly has the size and speed to excel at this position, but he was cut by the Browns in advance of Week 1.

Pryor was known more for his running than passing during his three years in Oakland. But, if his pocket passing improves, it's his dual-threat ability that could land him a role.

Pryor is expected to battle Tyler Wilson for the Raiders' backup QB spot.

Pryor is an intriguing quarterback prospect given his size and speed, but he will open the season third on the depth chart behind Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart.
