Tampa Bay re-signed McLendon to a one-year contract Wednesday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
McLendon first joined Tampa Bay in a mid-season trade with the Jets in 2020, and he provided the team with valuable depth along the defensive line throughout the path to Super Bowl LV. That said, the 35-year-old veteran is essentially off the fantasy radar in IDP formats at this point in his career.

McLendon should return as the nose tackle and a locker room leader for the Jets at age 34. He's still a meaningful contributor in New York's defensive line rotation and is coming off a 36-tackle, 2.5-sack campaign.
The 32-year-old McLendon should start at nose tackle in New York's 3-4 scheme after racking up a career-high 46 tackles in that role last season.
McLendon had a career-high 3.5 sacks last season, his first in New York, but with the Jets in full rebuilding mode and McLendon on the wrong side of 30, there's no guarantee he'll even be on the roster by Week 1. Even if he does make the cut, there are multiple Jets defensive linemen with much higher fantasy value.
McLendon will play his first season with the Jets in 2016 after spending his first six-years in the league with the Steelers. He never played more than 34.2 percent of Pittsburgh’s defensive snaps, but figures to start and see more time now that he’s with New York. That being said, McLendon is still a run stuffing defensive tackle who doesn’t rack up a lot of stats, as evidenced by his 14 tackles and one sack in 16 games played last year. Don’t expect big numbers, even if his role does increase.
McLendon returns as the Steelers starting nose tackle, but injuries, which have resulted in his missing 17 games over the past five season, creates opportunities for Cam Thomas and Daniel McCullers to get their share of defensive snaps.
The addition of Cam Thomas may result in McLendon moving from nose tackle to left end. Either way, he should still make an impact this season.
McLendon will be asked to fill the cleats of former nose tackle Casey Hampton this season. He's a better pash rusher than Hampton, and should help a Steelers' defensive unit that recorded just 37 sacks in 2012.
A former undrafted free agent, McLendon was expected to open the season as Pittsburgh's starting nose tackle, but Casey Hampton would still rotate in on obvious running downs.
McLendon, signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2009, has played in four games with one tackle and a fumble recovery.

Knew of trade before last Jets game
DTTampa Bay Buccaneers
October 24, 2020
McLendon was already aware he was being traded to the Buccaneers when he suited up for the Jets against the Dolphins in Week 6, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran defensive tackle relayed this week he'd been informed of the move Saturday night prior to the game against Miami and was told a car would be waiting to drive him immediately to Tampa and begin COVID protocols following the contest's conclusion. Instead of being declared inactive for Week 6 as would normally be the case when a trade is reached prior to a game, McLendon logged 24 snaps versus the Dolphins in what he termed "one last ride" with the organization he'd played for the last four-plus seasons. The 34-year-old was then able to start his protocol window in timely enough fashion to allow him to practice Friday and leave himself poised to make his Bucs debut Week 7.
