The linebacker may not have had the longevity he hoped for in his career, but his story of personal perseverance has inspired a generation of athletes.

IDP Analysis: Players Likely to Miss Time
August 30, 2018
Just in time to kick off the regular season, Jim Coventry looks at the list of defenders who will definitely miss games, as well as players who could possibly miss time.
Past Fantasy Outlooks
2019
2018
Griffin was benched in 2018 after starting on defense in his career debut. He'll have a better chance to make an impact on Seattle's defense now that Jacob Martin and Barkevious Mingo are in Houston, but he'll have to wait for an opening behind Mychal Kendricks and K.J. Wright. Even if Kendricks leaves the team due to legal issues, Griffin will have to beat out rookie Ben Burr-Kirven as well.
The rookie fifth-round pick is an excellent story, as he's missing his left hand from a rare illness as a child. However, Griffin is expected to be much more than just a story - this guy can play. He was the fastest linebacker at the combine, running his 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds and adding 20 reps on the bench press as well. Griffin will start training camp on the outside looking in at a starting job, but he could push Barkevious Mingo for reps with a strong preseason.

Could transition to pass rusher?
LBFree Agent
May 10, 2021
Griffin, currently still a free agent, could transition to a full-time pass rusher at his next landing spot, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Griffin only notched one sack in 46 career games with Seattle over the last three seasons, but he did manage a combined 18.5 sacks during his final two collegiate seasons at UCF. If a team is willing to bet on Griffin's ability to transition positionally, it seems likely that he'd start out in a purely depth role, with the upside of eventually developing into a regular pass rusher.
