Ryquell Armstead

While he suited up for all 16 games, Armstead didn't see much action in the Jaguars' backfield in 2019 as Leonard Fournette piled up a career-high 341 touches. When he did get a chance to show what he could do in Week 17, the rookie came through with 85 yards and a TD on 15 touches. Much like the player who stood ahead of him on the depth chart, Armstead is a power back who prefers running through defenders rather than around them, but he does have some surprising speed in the open field - 4.45 40-yard dash at the 2019 combine. He's not a natural receiver, and while that didn't stop Jacksonville from force-feeding targets to Fournette last year, new offensive coordinator Jay Gruden might have other ideas, especially with Chris Thompson now on the roster to handle third downs. Armstead has an opening after the Jags waived Fournette at the end of training camp, but the team may take a committee approach to start the season, potentially using Thompson and Devine Ozigbo in conjunction with Armstead.

Sometimes, a player is just a great fit for a team's personality. A 220-pounder who runs with good power and a strong motor who never quits, Armstead is the kind of back who could thrive in a smashmouth offense like the one the Jaguars hope to feature. He doesn't possess great vision or patience, but his burst allows him to widen a hole if he didn't wait long enough for it to fully develop, and while he's more slippery than elusive, he can avoid getting squared up and gain yards after contact as a result. The fifth-round pick out of Temple is a solid blocker but doesn't offer much as a receiver, so his role could be limited to giving Leonard Fournette a breather, rather than serving as a true complementary piece to Jacksonville's starter. If Fournette should break down again, Armstead would instantly vault into the fantasy equation.
