Pittsburgh's solid group of receivers limited Switzer's opportunities even before season-ending back surgery. His value as a kickoff and punt returner also took a hit with the performance of Kerrith Whyte and Diontae Johnson, respectively. Switzer will likely compete with Deon Cain for a spot on the 53-man roster, but neither is likely to offer much in the way of fantasy value.
A top-10 kickoff and punt returner, Switzer also proved to be a decent pass catching option for Pittsburgh last season, finishing with 36 catches (on 44 targets) for 253 yards and one touchdown. With fellow slot man Eli Rogers back from a knee injury, Switzer enters training camp far down on a receiver depth chart that also includes JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Washington, Donte Moncrief and Diontae Johnson.
The 2017 fourth-round pick saw just seven passes thrown his way throughout the entirety of his rookie campaign with Dallas, but he racked up 856 total return yards on the season and ran a punt back for a touchdown in Week 13 against the Redskins. Switzer was traded to the Raiders this offseason in exchange for defensive tackle Jihad Ward, then later flipped to the Steelers in exchange for a draft pick. Switzer likely will see most of his work in the return game for Pittsburgh, but he could get some snaps in the slot if the team's wideout group is hit hard by injuries.
Mitchell Trubisky's favorite target at North Carolina landed in Dallas after his selection in the fourth round of this year's draft. Switzer is an undersized terror out of the slot, combining electric cuts with sure hands, and while the Cowboys already have a receiver with that profile in Cole Beasley, Switzer's skill set could mesh perfectly with Dak Prescott's quick release and accuracy. As a rookie, Switzer may have to make his mark as a punt returner but appears poised to mesh seamlessly into the Cowboys' offense when given a chance.

Works out for Panthers

April 19, 2022
Switzer had a workout with the Panthers on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Switzer spent the 2021 season on injured reserve with the Browns after suffering a foot injury in training camp that required surgery. His last game action came in 2019 as a member of the Steelers, and his primary role was as a kick returner. If Switzer signs in Carolina or elsewhere, his biggest contributions will likely continue to come on special teams.
