Preston Williams broke out in Week 5 and might keep it rolling in Week 6 against the Jets, whose strong slot coverage encourages offenses to target their weak outside corners.
2018 Fantasy Outlook
A 2016 fourth-round pick, Smith has found a way to not only stick on the roster, but actually play a prominent role. The North Carolina Central alum posted 62 tackles (51 solo), three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and five passes defensed over 15 games last season, initially entering the starting lineup due to Brent Grimes' shoulder injury and subsequently hanging on to a first-unit role after a right hamstring issue ended Vernon Hargreaves' season Week 10. With both players back in 2018, it remains to be seen exactly how Smith will be deployed. With Hargreaves having underachieved in his first two seasons, Smith could make a strong case for playing time during training camp and preseason, and at a minimum looks perfectly capable of staking a claim to the third cornerback spot.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Role likely to increase
Smith is now the most experienced cornerback on the Buccaneers' roster after Vernon Hargreaves was waived Tuesday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith opened the season serving a four-game suspension and has logged only five solo tackles and a forced fumble over five games. However, the 26-year-old did come into 2019 with 45 games of NFL experience over his first three seasons, along with an interception, 11 defensed passes, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. With the other alternatives to fill Hargreaves' old right cornerback spot -- Sean Murphy-Bunting, M.J. Stewart (knee) and Jamel Dean -- all having considerably less experience than Smith, it could be Smith who gets the first shot at a starting assignment. Alternatively, even if he's passed over for Hargreaves' old job, Smith could find himself filling in for Carlton Davis (hip) in Week 11 against the Saints if Davis fails to suit up for that contest.
