Rest-of-Season Projections
Receives another extension
The Bengals re-signed Thomas to a one-year extension Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Thomas is now set to remain in Cincinnati for at least one more season, when he'll serve in his 11th NFL campaign. The 32-year-old safety has primarily worked as a special-teams contributor throughout his two-year stint with the Bengals, and he'll likely do so again in 2023.

After backing up Landon Collins at strong safety last year, Thomas will now play second-string to ex-Cleveland Brown Jabrill Peppers -- a former first-round pick who established career highs in 2018 by collecting 79 tackles and five tackles for loss, while averaging a respectable 8.8 yards per punt return on 25 attempts. Thomas had a solid year in his own right for the G-Men, logging six starts in 16 appearances, while registering 59 total tackles, two interceptions and six pass deflections. He'll remain one of the more important rotational players in the Giants' defensive backfield, battle-tested in the NFL and capable of playing multiple positions at a proficient level.
