Morrison is expected to line up as a starter at outside linebacker in the Bills' new 4-3 base scheme. Morrison was picked up by the Bills too close to the 2011 season and never had time to really fit in under the previous defense, registering just seven tackles and a sack in spot duty across 14 games. He's been in the league a while, but at 30 there's still some mileage left too. While we like Nick Barnett and Kelvin Sheppard a lot better as IDPs, we'll also note that Morrison has put up 90-plus tackles five times in his career, so it's worth monitoring how much time he's getting on the field.

Arthur Moats, a third-year player, has had a great camp and has elevated himself into a battle - in which Moats may actually be leading - with Morrison for a starting outside linebacker spot, BuffaloBills.com reports. “At the strong side position, Arthur Moats and Kirk Morrison are in a battle,” said Bills defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt. “To be quite honest with you Arthur gets the nudge a little bit. They are going to split time in the game, but Arthur might have outperformed him a little bit at this point in training camp. So we have real competition right there and how it unfolds; the games will determine that.”
