Finds role in contract year

Lewis finished the 2024 season with a career-best 71 tackles (39 solo), including 1.0 sacks, eight pass breakups, including an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery across 16 games.
ANALYSIS
The slot cornerback also started 13 of those 16 games after only starting eight in 2023 and missing the majority of 2022 with a Lisfranc injury. Lewis, a 2017 third-round pick of the Cowboys, signed a one-year, $2.83 million contract with Dallas last offseason, and he'll likely be a part of some team's plans for 2025 after establishing himself again this past year.

The 27-year-old cornerback played only six games in 2022 due to a Lisfranc injury, and in his absence DaRon Bland emerged as a prolific ballhawk in the slot role. Lewis is no slouch himself, racking up a career-high 61 tackles and 11 passes defended in 2021, and he should be fully recovered by Week 1. With free agent Stephon Gilmore also joining the Cowboys' secondary in the offseason though, Lewis isn't guaranteed a big role this season.
Lewis posted career highs with three interceptions and 11 passes defended last year while topping 50 tackles for the fourth time in five NFL seasons. The slot corner has remained a dependable part of the Cowboys secondary through multiple schemes and coordinators. With the team having not brought in significant reinforcements at cornerback in the offseason, Lewis' spot appears secure.
Lewis had another solid season in 2020, recording a career-high 59 tackles and two sacks in 15 games. He has the ability to handle assignments outside or in the slot and also has a knack for blitzing, giving him a secure spot in the secondary even after the addition of Kelvin Joseph in the second round of the 2021 Draft. Lewis may not have the pure ceiling to be an IDP asset, but he can help return the Dallas defense as a whole to respectability.
Lewis reclaimed a larger role in the Cowboys defense last year, and the 2017 third-round pick displayed his big-play ability by recording a career-high four sacks and two picks. While he doesn't have ideal size for a modern NFL corner, his quickness and aggressiveness still allow him to be effective in the slot. The Dallas secondary will look very different this season without Byron Jones, but the more turnover-focused scheme being brought in by new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan could prove to be a perfect fit for Lewis' skill set.
After being taken in the third round of the 2017 draft, Lewis more than held his own as a rookie, recording 54 tackles and an interception while splitting time between the outside and slot corner. Byron Jones' shift from safety likely locks Lewis into the latter role in 2018, but the Michigan product has shown the lateral quickness to handle the assignment'. His IDP ceiling is limited, but he should provide consistent snaps for a young and improving defense.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Priority extension candidate
CBDallas Cowboys
January 7, 2025
The Cowboys will prioritize re-signing Lewis this offseason, Todd Archer of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Lewis is overshadowed in the Dallas secondary by both Trevon Diggs, who ended the season on injured reserve with a knee injury, and DaRon Bland. However, he plays a key role as the team's slot corner, and Archer points to his ability as a blitzer and as a mentor to the defensive unit as reasons why the team would prioritize retaining him. Lewis' peak cap hit came in 2023 at $6.1 million, so he should be relatively easy for the Cowboys to re-sign if there's interest on both sides.
