Has suspension lifted

September 11, 2024
Jackson, who was serving a one-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy, had his suspension lifted Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson is currently a free agent and last played for the Patriots. The Maryland product had a rough 2023, which saw him benched by the Chargers, traded to New England where his struggles continued, and then placed on the reserve/non-football illness list due to personal issues.

Arguably the marquee defensive free-agent signing last offseason, Jackson's first year in Los Angeles was an unmitigated disaster. The 27-year-old struggled to operate as a true outside corner, failing to tally a single interception in five games before a brutal ruptured patellar tendon ended his season prematurely. Jackson is expected to be healthy by Week 1 and projects to be the team's lockdown corner with Asante Samuel and Michael Davis operating as the other two starters.
The Patriots opted not to place their franchise tag on Jackson opening the door for the premiere cornerback to sign a massive five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Chargers this offseason. One of the league's premier ballhawks since entering the NFL in 2018, Jackson recorded 25 interceptions over his first four seasons, and his eight picks in 2021 surpassed the Chargers' entire total as a team (seven). He'll be part of an up-and-coming Los Angeles secondary that includes three recent early round draft picks in safeties Derwin James and Nasir Adderley and cornerback Asante Samuel.
The 25-year-old, who joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2018, has emerged both as a key member of his team's secondary and as an IDP option. Jackson logged 40 tackles and nine picks in 16 games last season and his role in the defense looms large out of the gate, with fellow starting cornerback Stephon Gilmore slated to start the 2021 season on the PUP list.

Mutual interest in return to Pats
CBFree Agent
March 13, 2024
Jackson and the Patriots have mutual interest in the cornerback returning to New England in free agency, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
New England released Jackson on March 1, as the Patriots didn't want to absorb his $14 million cap hit for the 2024 season. However, New England hasn't shut the door on bringing back the cornerback at a more affordable price. Jackson spent his first four seasons in New England, capped with a Pro Bowl season in 2021. He was acquired in 2023 after an unproductive and injury-riddled stint with the Chargers.
