2024 Fantasy Outlook
Drafted 99th overall last year and joining one of the Super Bowl favorites, Moody was greeted by far more pressure than a typical rookie kicker. He ended up leading the league in PATs (60 of 61) and ranking 27th in field goals made (21 of 25), with his solid work in real life overshadowed in the fantasy realm by San Francisco's league-leading red-zone TD rate (68.0 percent). Moody finished 18th at the position in fantasy scoring and then missed three kicks in three playoff games, but he also hit a go-ahead, 53-yard FG with under two minutes remaining in the Super Bowl. It was enough to ensure he'll be back as the kicker for one of the league's best teams, and his volume should trend at least a little more toward FGs and away from PATs this year, though the Niners' red-zone efficiency under coach Kyle Shanahan is nothing new. Innaccurate in return
Moody (ankle) went 3-for-6 on field-goal attempts while converting both of his point-after tries in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Moody returned from an ankle injury that cost him three weeks of game action, but the results were mixed upon returning Sunday. The 2023 third-round pick wound up missing three field-goal attempts (44, 49 and 50 yards) before nailing his sixth and final attempt for the win. Moody went 13-for-14 on FGA in five games prior to getting injured, so perhaps Sunday's poor showing was simply the kicker shaking off the rust from a long layoff. Barring a rash roster move, Moody should remain kicking for San Francisco in a crucial matchup against the Seahawks on Sunday.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Niners spent a compensatory third-round pick on Moody, who converted all 148 of his PATs at Michigan and went 69-for-84 on field goals (82.1 percent), notably hitting 52 of 60 (86.7 percent) his final two seasons. He was the first kicker drafted this spring and figures to take over a role in which Robbie Gould tied for seventh among kickers in fantasy scoring last year, though he will have to beat out trade-acquisition Zane Gonzalez. Gould averaged three or more PATs per game three of the last four seasons, but he actually put up better fantasy numbers in 2017-18 when the Niners struggled in the red zone. Moody has a stronger leg, of course, so it's possible he isn't as reliant on PATs as Gould was the last few years.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Nearing return
Moody is expected to return in Week 10 against the Buccaneers, David Lombardi of the San Francisco Standard reports.
ANALYSIS
Moody wasn't placed on injured reserve when he originally suffered an ankle injury in Week 5, and he has since missed three contests. That suggests the 49ers always believed it would be possible for him to return within four games -- the minimum absence for a player on injured reserve. Another sign that Moody is set to return is that San Francisco released Anders Carlson from its practice squad Tuesday after he had filled in for Moody as the kicker in Weeks 7 and 8.
