Cantrell certainly has the prototypical size (6-3, 226 pounds) and enough speed to help fill in for Tyrell Williams, who signed a massive deal with the Raiders in the offseason. The 24-year-old spent his rookie season on the practice squad, but likely would have been on the roster bubble if not for a bone bruise suffered during training camp. It'll all be for naught, however, as Cantrell suffered a season-ending shoulder injury and was subsequently placed on injured reserve. It remains to be seen whether Cantrell will be legitimate threat to even rotation time after two years mired by injury.

ANALYSIS
Cantrell was selected in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, and he has yet to make his NFL debut. He's considered a wide receiver/tight end hybrid, standing at 6-foot-3, 226 pounds. The Patriots are interested in his abilities at tight end, as both Ryan Izzo (hamstring) and Dalton Keene (knee) are battling injuries. Due to COVID-19 protocols, he's unlikely to be available until Week 10.
