Embarks on coaching career

The Broncos hired Webb as their quarterbacks coach Thursday, signaling the end of the signal-caller's playing career, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
A third-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, Webb spent time with the Giants, Jets and Bills over his six-year playing career. He made just two regular-season NFL appearances during that time, with his lone start coming Week 18 with the Giants this past season when New York held out Daniel Jones for rest purposes in a mostly meaningless regular-season finale. Though he's just 28 years old, Webb likely wouldn't have entered the 2023 season as any team's top choice for a backup role, so he'll turn his focus to coaching. With his first job in Denver, Webb will be advising Russell Wilson, who is six years his senior.

2017
Webb spent most of last season on the Jets' practice squad after being snagged on waivers from the crosstown rival Giants. With Sam Darnold and Trevor Siemian entrenched as Gang Green's top two options at the quarterback position, the 24-year-old Webb will likely be practice squad-bound again in 2019.
Drafted in the third round in 2017, Webb didn't take a single regular-season snap last year. At 6-5, 230, he has good size and arm strength but reportedly lacks polish. He'll have to fend off this year's fourth-round pick, Kyle Lauletta, for the backup job behind Eli Manning, and Webb is likely the underdog given he was drafted by the since departed Jerry Reese, while Lauletta is a product of current GM Dave Gettleman.
Taken in the third round of this year's draft, Webb will be the team's third-string QB behind Eli Manning and Geno Smith. Webb has a strong arm, but he's a bit of a project at this point as his accuracy and decision-making need work.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Playing days might be over

January 24, 2023
Webb is considering retiring as a player to become a coach, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Webb was a third-round pick of the Giants in the 2017 NFL Draft, though he's also played for the Bills and Jets. He earned the first start of his career with the Giants in Week 18 of the 2022 campaign, and he completed 23 of 40 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown against the Eagles. Webb has not officially retired to begin his coaching career, but he is looking for the right opportunity to do so, per Schefter.
