2015
Despite missing half the season in 2017 due to a four-game PED suspension and a concussion, Irving still set career highs in sacks, passes defended and tackles while establishing himself as a potent force on the Cowboys' defensive line alongside DeMarcus Lawrence. While off-field issues date back to his college days, making him a risky player to rely on, Irving's combination of length and athleticism will make him an IDP asset on a per-game basis. Unfortunately for the soon-to-be 25-year-old, he violated the substance abuse policy and incurred a four-game ban to kick off this season, so he won't take the field until Week 5 for the second consecutive campaign.
Irving began to emerge last year as a big-play threat for the Cowboys, forcing three fumbles in Week 6 against the Packers and racking up three total sacks in Weeks 15 and 16, but he wasn't able to make much of a contribution between those performances. At 6-7, he has the length and athleticism to reach the QB and disrupt passing lanes, but he's a risky IDP option until he develops more consistency. Before he can embark on this path, Irving will miss the first four games of the season due to a PED suspension.
Will attempt to earn a reserve role on the defensive line.

Prepping to play
DEFree Agent
July 25, 2021
Irving remains unsigned but recently said he's "ready to play," NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old re-signed with the Raiders in February, only to get cut three months later, and he's still looking to find his next team. Irving latched on with Vegas' practice squad in October last year and ended up appearing in two games for the remainder of the season. It was his first game action since 2018 with the Cowboys, and he also played only two games in that season. Even if Irving does receive a training camp opportunity somewhere, he'll face long odds of actually making the roster to open the season.
