ANALYSIS
Dennard signed a one-year deal with the 49ers after appearing in the team's divisional-round win over the Packers in January -- his lone contest with the team. However, the veteran defensive back is part of San Francisco's first wave of cuts in 2022. Dennard has had a tough time solidifying a role after seven solid years in Cincinnati to start his career.

Dennard was often deployed against inside wide receivers during his time with the Bengals, but per ESPN's Vaughn McClure, he was expected to compete for a perimeter cornerback spot when initially agreeing to terms with Jacksonville during March's free-agency period (a deal which later fell out). Now having landed in Atlanta among an otherwise inexperienced cornerback group, Dennard is expected to play an important role in containing the slot as Kendall Sheffield, A.J. Terrell and Isaiah Oliver man the perimeter.
Dennard finally broke out in Year 4 with the Bengals after being a first-round pick in 2014, one of a string of first-round corners taken by the team. He had 85 tackles, tied for 13th among all defensive backs, along with two interceptions and six passes defensed. With Adam Jones now gone, the Bengals will need to rely upon Dennard more than ever. He should combine with William Jackson III and Dre Kirkpatrick to form a pretty formidable trio.
Dennard hasn’t lived up to expectations since entering the NFL as a first-round pick in 2014. He’s started just one game, recorded 24 tackles, and grabbed one interception in two years. Entering 2016, he’ll likely be competing for the nickel corner position with this year’s first-round pick, William Jackson.
Dennard was selected 24th overall in this year's draft and should see major playing time as a rookie considering the recent durability issues that have plagued cornerbacks Leon Hall, Terence Newman, and Dre Kirkpatrick. The former Michigan State standout earned the Jim Thorpe Award as college football's best defensive back last season and excels in press coverage situations.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May stay in Atlanta
CBAtlanta Falcons
February 14, 2021
The Falcons will try to retain Dennard (quadriceps) for the 2021 season, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution suggests.
ANALYSIS
Dennard struggled to stay healthy last season, as he suited up in just eight games (six starts). When he was on the field, he was solid in coverage, letting up 310 yards (5.3 yards per target) and three touchdowns. The 29-year-old likely will need a raise after receiving just $1.05 million last season, but his lengthy injury history likely will result in a team-friendly deal nonetheless.
