2024 Fantasy Outlook
The Eagles selected DeJean out of Iowa in the second round (40th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. He was considered a potential first-round talent, but a fractured fibula in November which cut short his final college season and caused him to skip the combine may have led to him slipping down the board. He was cleared for all football activities in early April and appears primed for a versatile role in Philadelphia's secondary, just like he had at Iowa, where he ended his college career with seven interceptions in 31 games. DeJean served as the Eagles' starting nickel corner ahead of Avonte Maddox on Sunday. DeJean was on the field for a season-high 52 snaps on defense, and he combined with Bryce Huff for a 15-yard sack on Deshaun Watson midway through the first quarter. Eagles aggressively pursue Friday
The Eagles traded three picks to move up to the 40th overall selection during the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft and pick DeJean, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
DeJean, who was a standout at Iowa and garnered both first-team All-American and Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year honors in 2023, had widely been projected as a first-round pick. However, with cornerback a position of need for Philadelphia and DeJean still on the board as the second round began Friday night, the Eagles opted to trade both of their second-round picks and a fifth-rounder to the division-rival Commanders, receiving the 40th and 78th overall selections and using the first of those to secure DeJean's services.
