ANALYSIS
Averett was cut from the Steelers' practice squad Oct. 28 with an injury designation, but he appears to be healthy enough to join Houston's practice squad ahead of their wild-card game against the Chargers on Saturday. ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old cornerback didn't play last season after getting injured in training camp while with the 49ers, eventually winding up on the Lions' practice squad in October but never getting elevated to the game-day roster. Averett's best season came in 2021 with the Ravens, when he recorded 54 tackles and his only three career interceptions over 14 games. If he shows enough in the minicamp, he could provide some experienced depth in the Pittsburgh secondary this year.
